MINUTES OF JULY MEETING

The meeting was held on July 11, 2009 at Bad Woman Yarn in Wallingford Center. In attendance were: Justine Ozaki, Deb Hobbs, Arlene Balcuinas, Sandi Dedrick, Jean Becker, Darlene Pearsall, Carrie Pearsall, Tamara Bacus, Jaime Shure and Josie Addington

Justine, as President, led the meeting.

Announcements/New Business

New cards came in for the Guild and were passed out to anyone who wanted a few.

August 9, 2009 is the Vashon BBQ so there will be no meeting in August. Our very own Darlene Pearsall will be leading the workshop on crochet cables (Go Darlene!)

Justine announced that in the past, there were not enough desserts brought to the BBQ so she encouraged more people to bring dessert rather than appetizers or sides.

Car pools are encouraged and directions and a map will be posted as it gets closer to the date.

Jean Becker announced that Nancy Brown will be conducting a workshop at the CGOPS meeting on Sunday, July 26 and asked for a show of who might be able to attend that meeting.

July Workshop

The July workshop was a jump start on holiday gifts. Inspired by Carmella Patterson's gift last Christmas, we embarked on making sunflower scrubbies. Justine provided the scrubbie middle and the pattern. Sandi provided everyone with kitchen soap to go with the finished scrubbies for gift-giving. (Thank you Sandi!)

Show -n- Tell:

Another bountiful show-n-tell (there's so much talent here).

Carrie showed us her big Tunisian hook and the scarf that she made with it.

Jean showed us a shawl she finished from a recent CGOPS workshop; a blue pineapple shawl (pattern by Lily Chin); a bag and a sweet dress with a crochet bodice.

Tamara showed off a pink cotton bag with lots of wonderful pockets and her green bag which she knit & felted.

Sandi, as mentioned above, displayed yet another talent for making soap.

There is no meeting next month. We hope to see most of you at the BBQ on Vashon. Our next meeting will be on September 12, 2009.
