MINUTES OF FEBRUARY MEETING
The meeting was held on February 14, 2009 at A New Yarn. In attendance were: Justine Ozaki, Mary Ferrari, Carmella Peterson,
Jan Ives, Darlene Pearsol, Carrie Pearsol, Anne Foster Angelou, Jean Becker, Josie Addington, Clare Cronkleton, Linda Yaw.
We also welcomed two new members, Marty Verkuilen and Tamara Bacus and a guest, Jenny.
Justine, as President, led the meeting.
New Business:
Treasurer's report was given by Justine, who announced that there is currently $253.25 in the treasury.
A sad note came with the announcement that A New Yarn (our current venue) is closing its doors. The store officially closes
on March 15, 2009. The Guild wants to thank Claudia and A New Yarn for their generosity in providing Crochet Guild Seattle!
with a monthly meeting place. We will miss you.
Effective March 14, 2009, Crochet Guild Seattle! will be meeting at Bad Woman Yarn located in Wallingford Center.
Old Business
There was no old business.
February Workshop
The February workshop is a charity project to be collected in time for Veterans' Day for presentation to the veterans who
are in the hospital or in rehab at American Lake near Fort Lewis. We are making scarves and will be joined by the Crochet
Guild of Puget Sound in reaching our goal of 150 scarves by Veterans' Day. Justine will also be asking the Eastside Guild
if they would like to participate in this charity project.
The pattern for the scarf was posted to the group site and Justine brought several copies of the pattern for those who
are without internet access.
Justine brought some samples with her. The scarves can be done either in half-double or single crochet. Single crochet
seemed to be the preferred and Justine described various options to crocheting the scarves.
Show-n-Tell
Darlene showed us a baby ensemble she finished which included an adorable sweater, blankie, binkie bib and booties.
Linda showed us her earflap hats with braded ties and wristwarmers. Linda agreed to post the link for the earflap hat and
wristwarmers to the group site.
Marty showed us some hats she's been working on.
Josie showed us her chain scarf.
Jean showed us her vest and her WIP Dragonfly shawl (from Winter 2008 issue of Interweave Crochet).
Josie posed the possibility of having the Dragonfly shawl as a crochet-a-long project; however, Justine pointed out that
the project might be too advanced for some of the members.
Announcements:
Jean will be conducting her last lace class at A New Yarn on Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 1-3p.m. It will be a broomstick
lace class.
The March workshop will be socks. Homework and materials will be posted to make a simple pair of socks from the cuff down.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
I will try and post various upcoming events on the group calendar. If you have an event that you feel should be posted,
please email them to josie.addington@yahoo.com.
