May 2008 Minutes
Crochet Guild Seattle met on May 18, 2008 at A New Yarn. Present were: Deborah
Herrmann, Carmella Patterson, Justine Ozaki (President), Josie Addington (Secretary) and guest, Deborah K. Magdaleno-Ahmed.
Justine presided over the meeting. At this meeting, Justine introduced us to the wonderful
world of shrugs and offered two patterns for us to make our shrug of choice. Along with the patterns, there were samples
of each shrug. One pattern came from Lion Brand's free pattern site [http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-shrug.html?noImages=]
and the other from the May 2008 issue of Crochet Magazine.
While Justine helped us get situated with our respective shrug pattern, our guest Deborah,
gave us a wonderful show-n-tell featuring projects she had created using yarn she had spun on her drop spindle. Everyone
seemed to enjoy Deborah's little exhibit. Thank you Deborah.
Our next meeting will be held on June 22, 2008 at which Linda will be teaching us a new stitch
technique.
The meeting adjourned promptly at 4:00 p.m.
Of Interest
The regional Knit/Crochet Expo will be held in Portland, Oregon this year. Several of
us are planning on attending. Talk of having a caravan to Portland is in the works. More info on that as the date
gets closer.
A New Yarn does offer crochet classes. There is one coming up in July (7/26) with guest
